- Sciences - Students can research the historical weather patterns on the inaugural days and draw conclusions about the weather. Write down your conclusions regarding the weather patterns on the inaugural days in your booklet. Research information about the weather during past U.S. presidential inaugurations. Write the word, words, or numbers that correctly finish each sentence in the science section of your booklet.

- Arts - Music: Research and Listen to The National Anthem which will be the last song played at the inauguration ceremony. Then answer the following questions in your inauguration booklet: Who, What, Where, When and Why. Click here and here for resource pages. Click here for an Obama Rap Song.
- Arts - Visual Arts: Students study pennants designed for previous inaugurations and design souvenir pennants. Click here for the link to the pennants.
- View the chosen backdrop paintings for the inaugural luncheon and discover why each painting was chosen. Since 1985, a painting has been selected to serve as a backdrop for the head table. The painting reflects the official theme of each year's inaugural ceremony.

- Humanities - Students will listen to past inaugural addresses and fill out the table in their inauguration booklet: What was the state of the union during that time based on the tone of the speech? Have students try to figure out what time period the speech came from, or if doing just listening to the speeches via audio, have students try to figure out who the president is and/or from which political party.
- Language A - Students compare and contrast the poems that Robert Frost, Maya Angelou, and Miller Williams wrote and read at past inaugurations. Using Kagan Structures students to list the similarities and differences of the poems in their Inauguration booklets.

Look for the following techniques:
- Language B - Students will research whether or not the country that they have been studying has inaugurations. If so, how is your country's inauguration similar and/or different to the United State's Inauguration Ceremony. If your country doesn't have inaugurations, how does your country replace political leaders? Write your discoveries in your Inauguration booklet.
Analysis of the 2009 Inauguration Speech
- While watching the inauguration speech, listen for the main and sub themes.
- While watching the inauguration speech, listen for any of the following persuasive techniques used during the inaugural speech: bandwagon, testimonial, and word repetition.
- Great speakers use the following appeals: credible, ethical, and logical. As you are listening to the speech, write down words that are used to connect to the listener in those ways.
- Write main points that are used in the speech introduction, body, and conclusion.

The Inauguration and the Media: Students read articles from newspapers around the world and decide how other countries are feeling about the United States New President.
